When can I apply to become part of the 2023 Volunteer Team?
You can apply online to be a Volunteer and registration will close once we have reached our target numbers for each role and successfully filled all of our Volunteer positions. Please note: applications will now close at 12noon (GMT) on Friday 30 January 2023.

Who can apply to be a part of the 2023 Volunteer Team?
You can apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • Be over the age of 16 by 1st January 2023 (no maximum age)
  • Be available for a minimum of 5 shifts (duration TBC) between 13th October 2023–2nd November 2023
  • Have a valid email address

How do I apply to become part of the 2023 Volunteer Team? 
Once you have read all of the information available on the volunteering section of our website, please complete the online application form – click here to access this.

When will I hear back? 
On completion of the online application form, hit the ‘submit’ button and thereafter you will see a ‘thank you’ message on your screen to confirm that your application has been received. We will store all applications and we will contact you with updates as appropriate, or if we require any further information from you. Please don’t worry if you do not hear from us straight away; we are aiming to have our Volunteer recruitment process concluded by the end of April 2023.

When will I know if I have been successful? 
We will keep you updated on the recruitment process when necessary. You will have an answer by the end of April 2023.

Do I need volunteering experience? 
No, it is not essential.

Will the 2023 Volunteer Team get to watch the gymnastics competition? 
The 2023 Volunteer Team will be based in a variety of locations both in and out of the competition venue depending on the role you have been assigned. If you are allocated a role within the competition venue and have sight of the field of play, you will not be able to watch the competition and instead would be expected to prioritise your Volunteer duties.

I am a person with a disability; will I be able to volunteer alongside my Support Worker/Personal Assistant? 
Yes. We welcome everyone to apply to join the 2023 Volunteer Team and your Support Worker or Personal Assistant is more than welcome to come along too if you are successful. Please feel free to contact us via email: volunte[email protected] to discuss your support requirements.

Will you assist the 2023 Volunteer Team with travel to Glasgow, Scotland?
No, unfortunately we are unable to contribute to the cost of your travel to Glasgow, Scotland. However, we will provide transport and / or cover reasonable travel costs within Glasgow to enable you to get from your accommodation in the city to your volunteering location during the Championships.

Will you assist the 2023 Volunteer Team with travel within Glasgow?
Yes, we will provide transport and/or cover reasonable travel costs from your Glasgow accommodation to your volunteering location during the Championships. We will not provide transport or cover costs for travel to and from Glasgow, Scotland.

Will you be providing and paying for accommodation for the 2023 Volunteer Team during the Championships?
No, unfortunately we will not be providing or covering the cost of accommodation during the Championships in Glasgow. However, we are working with accommodation providers to ensure that Volunteers are able to access the best possible rates across a range of accommodation options.

If I am successful and then find I am unable to commit, can I withdraw from the programme? 
Yes, of course; you can withdraw at any time. We are delighted that you are offering us your time but before you apply, please have a think and check your diary to ensure you are able to commit.

Do I have to be a UK citizen to apply? 
You do not need to be a UK citizen; however you are required to meet the Volunteer criteria to be eligible to volunteer within the UK (as noted in the Volunteer Role Profile – click here to view).

Is there an age limit to be part of the 2023 Volunteer Team? 
There is no maximum age limit. You do need to be over the age of 16 by 1st January 2023 and be able to meet the Volunteer criteria, as noted in the Volunteer Role Profile – click here to view.

Do I have to live in Glasgow to be a Volunteer? 
No, you can live anywhere, but there will be no contribution to your travel and accommodation costs for your visit to Glasgow. The organisers are working with accommodation providers to ensure that Volunteers are able to access the best possible rates across a range of accommodation options.

Will you be carrying out any background checks? 
All of the 2023 Volunteer Team will be accredited. Depending on your role we may conduct background checks via Disclosure Scotland (http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/).

ACCESSIBILITY

Is the Recruitment Pack available in any other formats?
If you require the forms in any other format – such as braille, audio or easy read – please contact [email protected]. A British Sign Language interpreter is available to assist with recruitment information if needed.

TRAINING

Will the 2023 Volunteer Team receive training?
Yes; online and on-site training and support will be given to make sure you’re ready to welcome the world to Glasgow. Volunteers will be required to attend up to two on-site training sessions between 13th and 23rd October 2023.

When will the training begin?
Online training will begin from the end of September 2023. On-site training will begin from 13th October 2023. This will be a good opportunity to meet the other members of the 2023 Volunteer Team and share your excitement about the Championships.

Will I have to do the training?
Yes, it is a requirement for all of the 2023 Volunteer Team members. We want you to be ready and feel comfortable with your role. It is also a good chance to ask any questions and meet your fellow Volunteers and the wider workforce.

What happens if I can’t attend the training?
If you have any questions about attending the training, please contact us at [email protected] so we can talk through your options.

What time of day will the training sessions be held? 
Training will be held at various different times and days to make sure that everyone can attend.

What will the training involve?
Practical training sessions will cover all requirements for becoming part of the 2023 Volunteer Team, and will allow you to gain information and learn facts about the city and the Championships along with any other information required to enable you to fulfil your role.

Will you assist with the cost of travel to the training sessions?
Yes, we will provide transport and/or cover reasonable travel costs from your Glasgow accommodation to your volunteering location/training. We will not provide transport or cover costs for travel to and from We We will not provide or cover the cost of transport to and from Glasgow..

Will refreshments be provided during training sessions?
Yes. Light refreshments will be provided during training.
