Now it’s October and nearly Championships time, the participating teams are being announced thick and fast, all adding to the excitement! This week the athletes selected to represent Canada, France and Finland are the latest to be named.
Representing France in Glasgow will be one of their best and most experienced gymnasts - Cyril Tommasone. No stranger to the champs, Cyril won Bronze on the Pommel Horse last year in Nanning and looks set to be a big contender again in this year’s event at the SSE Hydro. He will be joined by Samir Ait Said, Jim Zona, Axel Augis, Arnaud Willig and Hamilton Sabot.
Representing the French Women’s team will be Marine Brevet, Valentine Pikul, Camille Bahl, Claire Martin, Loan His and Louise Vanhille.
Canada will also be bringing there elite to this year’s world Championships, with Ellie Black and Scott Morgan leading the way for the Women’s and Men’s teams respectively.
Already having a successful year, becoming Beam, Floor and All-Around Gold medallist in the Pan American Games, Ellie will be hoping to bring her winning form with her across the pond to Glasgow. She will be joined by Madison Copiak, Isabela Onyshko, Brittany Rogers, Audrey Rousseau, Sydney Townsend, Victoria-Kayen Woo.
Glasgow will feel like home to Scott Morgan, as he looks to repeat his amazing success from last year’s 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won Gold on Vault and Rings and took Silver on the Floor. Scott will be joined by Zachary Clay, René Cournoyer, Ken Ikeda, Anderson Loran, Kevin Lytwyn and Hugh Smith to complete the Men’s team for Canada.
Last but not least we have heard news from Finland and heading to Glasgow will be Oskar Kirmes, Heikki Niva, Tomi Tuuha, Monica Sileoni and Annika Urvikko.
We are looking forward to welcoming gymnasts from all 91 countries across the world at the end of this month!
